Blas Festival

Blas Festival is an annual event held in locations throughout Argyll and The Highlands which celebrates traditional Scottish and Gaelic music and culture.

Royal National Mòd

The Royal National Mòd is an annual festival clebrating all aspects of Gaelic culture. It is organised by An Comunn Gàidhealach (the Highland Association) and includes the highly prestigious national competitions in the performing arts as well as perfomrances and many fringe events. It is hosted in a different location in Scotland each year.

Gaelic creative arts organisations

Comunn nan Còisirean Gàidhlig

Comunn nan Còisirean Gàidhlig (The Association of Gaelic Choirs) aim to promote, develop and maintain public education in and appreciation of the art and science of music and in particular Gaelic Choral Music. They have information about Gaelic choirs all over Scotland.

Fèisean nan gàidheal

Fèisean nan gàidheal (Gaelic Festivals) work all over Scotland to support organisations in the Fèis movement in their promotion of music and drama. Many of the projects are aimed at children and young adults but they also organise the yearly Blas festival.

An Comunn Gàidhealach

An Comunn Gàidhealach (the Highland Association) is a charitable organisation founded in 1891 to support and develop all aspects of the Gaelic language, culture, history and heritage at local, national and international levels. They are the organisers of the Royal National Mòd.

Comhairle nan Leabhraichean (Gaelic Books Council)

The Gaelic Books Council is a charity dedicated to supporting the development of Gaelic writing and the publication and promotion of Gaelic language literature. They have information about opportunities and funding for writers as well as an online shop selling Gaelic literature.

Government & education organisations

Bòrd na Gàidhlig

Bòrd na Gàidhlig is a public body which works with Scottish Government to promote and improve the status of the Gaelic Language. They work primarlily in the education sector to help provide Gaelic medium education and course funding to increase the number of people of all ages acquiring Gaelic in Scotland.

Comunn na Gàidhlig

Comunn na Gàidhlig is a coordinating public body which works with Scottish Government, Local Authorities and Gaelic language agencies to promote the development of Scottish Gaelic.

Comann nam Pàrant

Comann nam Pàrant is a national organisation which offers advice and support on Gaelic medium education to parents.

Bun-sgoil Taobh na Pàirce

Bun-sgoil Taobh na Pàirce (Parkside Primary School) is Edinburgh’s newly created Gaelic medium primary school. The school accepts pupils from Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife.

Pàrantan Taobh na Pàirce
The Parent Council of Taobh na Pàirce are involved in the running of the school and resolution of parents’ issues.

Òganan Dhùn Èideann provide Gaelic-medium wraparound childcare facilities for pre and primary school children within the Gaelic school, Bun-sgoil Taobh na Pàirce.

Cròileagain Dhùn Èideann

Cròileagain Dhùn Èideann (Edinburgh Gaelic Playgroups) run playgroups for under fives across Edinburgh with activities designed to introduce Gaelic to children and their carers in a fun way. No Gaelic experience is necessary for carer or child.
